What had
happened to the suspects of the bank robbery case last day? We had read that
they were shot down by the police as a part of self-defense. But the explanation
that the police had given about the issue is not at all acceptable. It seems
more or less like a film story and the facts were not worthy of believing.
Commissioner
of Police, J.K. Tripathy said the police had broke open the front door to gain
entry into the one-bedroom flat. But there were reports in some major newspaper
of the day that its reporters who had visited the site on the day had seen no
visible signs of the door being damaged. The wall behind the window grille
through which the police said the initial exchange of fire had taken place had
only two visible bullet holes on it, that too at the same height, and the TV
set that would have been in the line of fire survived the gun battle intact.
The window grille itself showed no signs of having been hit by bullets,
suggesting both the police and the men inside who allegedly fired shots through
it were excellent marksmen.
Is it
really like that? Are the policemen that efficient? Could they just shoot the
suspects down without missing any bullet or without striking any object in the midst?
If it’s so, hats off to the brilliancy and efficiency of the Tamil nadu Police
forces. But at the current situation, people with a normal brain, just as me could
not believe that. It would have been a commando operation. Why did they shoot
the suspects? Are they terrorists? They were just the suspects and there are
probabilities that they were not the ones behind the bank robberies. So, the
police should have gone for an arrest instead of going for a hunter-prey kind
of role play.
If the
police were not capable of arresting the suspects alive, they should have gone
for some kind of commando operation. It’s just like what’s happening in a movie
to hunt for the ones who are committing the crimes and bring an end to the
crime thereby. Then, what for is the law in the country meant for? Is it fools
who approach the court and move accordingly?
I don’t
really understand what’s happening here. But what I would just feel like saying
is that the human beings are not animals to be shot down just like that. They
are to be given some human consideration and the brutal means of shooting
should be avoided at any cost.
There
are techniques to stop a big elephant from attacking people, by injecting a
medicine meant to make them go sedative. If this could be used on such a
gigantic animal that has got no brain to think and to act, why can’t the police
adapt something innovative technique just as that to stop a person who comes to
attack them with a weapon?
I hope
that some innovative brain will soon come up with some idea just as that! Hoping
for that, I pray that I don’t hear the news of another brutal killing in the
near future.
